Parenting Tips for Teen Moms

There’s nothing sweeter than a baby sleeping. Yet who would think that getting a baby to sleep would be so hard? The best advice my mom ever gave me was to give my daughter a nightly routine.

Every evening in our home was basically the same. It included a bath, nursing or bottle, and music. When they were toddlers, I also read to them. My favorite time was when I would turn on soft music. Babies and toddlers love routines. Knowing what’s coming next helps them feel secure. Getting my baby to sleep was no longer a chore, but a wonderful bonding time for the both of us.

So slow down your life in the evening. Turn down the TV and stereo, give your child a warm bath, dim the lights, and turn on some special music. Play the music only at sleepy time, and both you and your child will soon be having sweet dreams!
